ONLINE LEARNING

LMS General Overview:

  • At Roots Education, we use a Learning Management System (LMS), which is a software or web-based platform designed to plan, deliver, manage, and assess educational or training programs. It serves as a centralized place where teachers/instructors upload course materials (lectures, readings, multimedia), create assignments and exams, and track student participation and progress. Students can access content, submit work, receive feedback, and interact with peers and teachers through discussion tools or live sessions. For schools, the LMS supports blended, fully online, or face-to-face learning by integrating administrative, pedagogical, and collaborative tools in one system.

LMS Purpose:

  • The primary purpose of a Learning Management System in schools is to improve and streamline the learning process by bringing together content delivery, assessment, communication, and tracking into one digital environment. It helps teachers efficiently deliver course materials and evaluate student understanding, allows students to access resources and feedback anytime, supports collaboration and communication among students, teachers, and parents, and provides analytics so educators can monitor progress, identify gaps, and intervene early. Additionally, an LMS increases consistency, accessibility, and flexibility—making learning possible beyond the classroom and helping the school operate more efficiently.

LMS Scope:

  •  An LMS in a school covers all the digital infrastructure needed to support teaching, learning, assessment, and administration. It includes managing users and roles (students, teachers, parents, administrators), delivering and organizing course content of all kinds (lectures, readings, multimedia), handling assignments and quizzes, collecting grades and feedback, and tracking student attendance and progress. It supports communication tools like messaging, announcements, forums, and calendars so everyone stays connected. On the administrative side, it aids scheduling, enrolling, permissions, reporting, data privacy/security, and integration with other systems (e.g,. school information systems). Thus, the LMS acts as a central hub that brings together both academic and operational functions under one digital roof.

LMS Services

  • Online learning =  is a method of education in which instruction, materials, interaction, and assessments are delivered primarily through the internet and digital technologies.

LMS Approach:

  • The LMS approach transforms traditional schooling by offering a centralized digital platform where teachers can upload course materials, assign work, give assessments, and monitor student progress, while students can access content anytime, submit assignments, receive feedback, and track their own learning. It supports both face-to-face and online instruction (blended learning), promotes personalized learning paths, and streamlines administrative tasks like grading, attendance, and reporting. By facilitating interaction among students and educators, and providing data on learning outcomes, an LMS helps schools improve effectiveness, accessibility, and engagement

LMS Policies:
